In Ventura: Husband-wife principals share ministry of caring

They will tell you — truthfully so — it is by coincidence that they became principals at the elementary and high schools sharing the same location in Ventura, adjacent to Our Lady of the Assumption Church. But Pat and Marc Groff’s years of dedication to Catholic education and to instilling a strong sense of service in their students was no coincidence at all, and it is those qualities that make them stand out as both a couple and as individuals.

Giving back feels right for Gabriella Brignardello

Even at the age of 9, Gabriella Brignardello, a senior at La Reina High School in Thousand Oaks, felt that something was not quite right. It was Christmas Eve. She and her family were in Lima, Peru — the native country of her father, Carlo — attending Mass at Santa Maria Chapel.

Juan Rincón: Serving ‘quietly and with a huge heart’

As it has been for the past 13 years, Juan Rincón’s Saturday morning begins with a visit to the downtown Los Angeles Wholesale Produce Market, knowing that before long his black Toyota Tundra will be filled with fruits and vegetables donated by wholesalers that he takes to his parish, St. Agatha in Los Angeles, to feed the needy.
