Considering that he was ordained a priest on the feast of St. Joseph the Worker (May 1, 1962) and a bishop on the feast of St. Joseph (March 19, 1975), it makes perfect sense that Cardinal Roger Mahony was pointedly apprised of the need for a new cathedral church in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles on … the feast of St. Joseph.
